Romeo + Juliet Stylized Session
This all started when I was 10 years old and was crushing on Leonardo DiCaprio. Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of the movie Romeo + Juliet has always been one of my favorite movies. I love the cinematography, the colors, the imagery, costume design, the soundtrack…and of course Leo. I dreamt up this concept for a stylized elopement in 2015, but it never happened because I had no idea what I was doing. Thanks to my friend and talented photographer, Erika Diaz, I got the push I needed to make it happen. We teamed up with some of the most talented professionals in Miami. We also ran into a few problems (like not knowing that the site we were set to shoot at was private property and needed a permit and an off-duty police officer UNTIL the day before). But other than that, I’d say it was pretty successful. The best thing that came out of this stylized elopement weren’t the pictures, but the new friendships we’ve made.
I’ve always been a hermit since I started my photography business 5 years ago. I thought it was all about competition and not letting other people see you sweat. I’ve learned that in this business, community is crazy important. It’s refreshing to be able to exchange ideas, vent and work with other photographers. And honestly, I’m so humbled by how NICE everyone has been. The vendors I’ve been fortunate enough to work with were so eager to help and create our vision. I’m so excited to share these.
